Hoboken, NJ
You're not just looking for coping skills—
you want real change your child can feel quickly.

The only problem?
Their schedule is packed. School, sports, social pressure—therapy feels like one more thing to manage.
They’re resistant to weekly sessions, and you're exhausted from the pushback.
You don’t need more appointments on the calendar— You need something that actually works.
Imagine your child feeling calm, confident, and back to themselves—without months of weekly sessions.
That’s where I come in.
I’m Kristen—therapist, EMDR provider, and intensive specialist for children and teens who are ready for real change.
I help kids and teens manage anxiety, build confidence, and regulate big emotions so they can move forward with clarity, calm, and ease—without months of drawn-out weekly sessions.
I know how overwhelming it feels when nothing seems to be working.
→ Maybe weekly talk therapy isn’t cutting it
→ Maybe they’re stuck on one specific trigger they just can’t shake
→ Maybe therapy keeps falling to the bottom of a packed schedule
That’s why I offer focused, accelerated therapy intensives designed to help your child make meaningful progress—fast.
In just one session, your child can begin to feel relief, rebuild confidence, and walk away with tools that actually work.
You’re busy. Your child’s busy.
That’s why we make therapy fit your life—not complicate it!
Some Reasons Your Child Might Benefit From An Intensive:
→ They get overwhelmed before school presentations, performances, or games—even when they’re prepared.
→ They’ve pulled back from hobbies or activities they used to love.
→ They’re caught in negative thinking patterns, and progress in traditional therapy has been slow.
So What Will We Do?
→ Pinpoint the root cause – Identify triggers leading to emotional distress, avoidance, or anxiety.
→ Create a game plan – Develop a structured plan for what happens before, during, and after the triggering situation.
→ Build a personalized toolkit – Learn and practice coping skills to handle the situation with confidence next time.
→ Reprocess with EMDR – Target and desensitize distressing memories or triggers so they no longer have control over your child’s emotions.

Therapy Intensives are more effectiveand efficient than normal 50-minute therapy sessions. Typically in a 50-minute session, there are at least 5-10 minutes of “check-in” at the start of the session and usually, 5-10 minutes spent on “closing up” or “checking out” at the end of a session - Leaving only 30-40 minutes for deep therapeutic work. Therapy Intensives are different.
A 2-hour Therapy Intensive allows for the full 2 hours of quality work. That’s the equivalent of five 50-minute sessions or more than a month of therapy - in a single day!
-
If your teen is struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional regulation and needs more than traditional weekly therapy, an intensive can provide focused support and faster progress. During the initial consultation, we’ll determine if this is the best fit.
-
Every teen is different. Some see significant progress in just one session, while others benefit from multiple intensives. We’ll discuss your teen’s specific needs and create a plan that works best for them.
-
Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy. I would ask that you sign a Release of Information so that your child’s current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.
What Is EMDR—and How Can It Help Your Child?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children and teens process overwhelming thoughts, memories, and emotions—without needing to talk through every detail.
Originally created for trauma, EMDR is now widely used to treat:
Anxiety and panic
Perfectionism
Low self-esteem
Stress-related physical symptoms
Phobias and avoidance behaviors
It works by helping the brain “unstick” painful experiences and reprocess them in a healthier, more balanced way.
In simple terms:
It gets the brain and body back on the same page.
It helps your child release what’s holding them back—so they can move forward with clarity and confidence.
EMDR sessions often involve gentle eye movements, tapping, or other forms of bilateral stimulation. These techniques activate both sides of the brain and help reduce the intensity of anxious thoughts, emotional reactivity, and physical stress responses.
If you're looking for EMDR therapy for your teen in Hoboken, NJ, our in-home EMDR intensives provide focused, powerful support—perfect for families who want deeper healing and quicker results than weekly sessions can offer.
*We also offer virtual sessions and in-office sessions at our Essex County location.
