Therapy Shouldn’t Take Years to Work

Your Child Might Need a Therapy Intensive If…

Weekly therapy isn’t creating enough progress — and you’re tired of waiting months to see a real shift.

Their anxiety is affecting daily life — school avoidance, panic attacks, meltdowns, social withdrawal, or physical symptoms like stomachaches and headaches.

They shut down when asked how they’re feeling — “I don’t know” is the only answer you get, and talk therapy hasn’t broken through.

They’re a high-achiever drowning in perfectionism and self-doubt — performing on the outside, falling apart on the inside.

Your family’s schedule makes weekly appointments hard to sustain — and you need a focused solution that fits real life.

You want a clear plan, not an open-ended process — a structured intensive with a beginning, middle, and measurable progress.

Does Any of This Sound Familiar?

Your child melts down over things that seem small, but you can tell it doesn’t feel small to them. They lie awake at night worrying. They say “I don’t know” when you ask what’s wrong. They’ve been to therapy before, maybe more than once, and something just hasn’t clicked.

You’re not looking for another waiting list or another therapist who needs six months to “build rapport.” You’re looking for something that actually works — a real breakthrough, with a real plan — for a child who’s been suffering long enough.

If your child or teen is struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem, perfectionism, social anxiety, emotional outbursts, or avoidance behaviors, an EMDR therapy intensive in New Jersey might be exactly what your family needs.

90-Minute Therapy Intensives for Teens in New Jersey

Hi, I’m Kristen
Child and Teen Anxiety Therapist in Fairfield, NJ

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and I specialize in one thing: helping anxious kids and teens get unstuck — faster than traditional therapy allows.

I’ve worked with dozens of children and teenagers who kept coming back every week. What I’ve found, again and again, is that many of them don’t need more time in therapy. They need the right kind of time — longer, deeper, more focused sessions that actually get to the root of what’s driving the anxiety.

That’s what an EMDR therapy intensive does. And it’s why I built The Therapy Intensive Reset around this model.

I offer in-person intensives in Fairfield, NJ, in-home EMDR sessions throughout northern New Jersey, and virtual intensives for families in New Jersey, Vermont, and Florida.

Not every family has time for weekly therapy.

Our concierge EMDR therapy intensives help kids and teens get to the root of anxiety faster—so you can stop guessing, and start seeing real progress

What Is an EMDR Therapy Intensive for children & teens?

An EMDR therapy intensive is an extended, structured therapy experience — typically 90 minutes to 2 hours — designed to accomplish in one session what might otherwise take months of weekly appointments.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s an evidence-based therapy recognized by the American Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organization as a gold-standard treatment for anxiety and trauma. Unlike talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain actually process the distressing memories and beliefs driving your child’s anxiety — so they don’t just cope with it. They move through it.

In a standard 50-minute therapy session, 10 to 20 minutes are lost to check-ins, transitions, and wrapping up. That leaves only 30 minutes for real work. One 2-hour intensive gives your child the equivalent of more than a month of weekly therapy — without the gaps, the forgetting, and the starting over every week!

Why EMDR Intensives Work Especially Well for Kids and Teens

Research consistently shows that children and adolescents move through EMDR faster than adults. Their nervous systems are more adaptive. When given the time and the right framework, they can experience meaningful, lasting change quickly — often in a single intensive session!

Let's Begin!

Perfect for kids already in therapy who need a deeper breakthrough on one particular issue — a big test, a recital, a first day at a new school.

For adolescents struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, social pressure, low self-esteem, and emotional dysregulation.

Sessions are structured to get to the root, build real coping skills, and help your teen feel capable again. Available in-person in Fairfield, NJ, and virtually across NJ, VT, and FL.

Therapy Intensive For Children

For kids ages 8–12 whose big emotions, anxiety, or behavioral challenges are affecting daily life.

Each intensive includes parent coaching so you leave with a real plan for supporting your child at home. In-person, in-home, and virtual options available.

Why Families Choose an Intensive Over Weekly Therapy

Weekly therapy has its place. But it also has real limitations — especially for children and teens whose anxiety is affecting school, friendships, and daily life right now.

The biggest difference is depth. In a therapy intensive, there’s no warming up and winding down every week. The session goes straight into the work and stays there. That continuity allows for breakthroughs that weekly appointments rarely reach.

It’s also faster. Families who’ve been in traditional therapy for months — sometimes years — often see more meaningful progress in a single intensive than they saw in all that time. Not because the previous therapy was bad, but because an intensive format gives anxiety treatment the sustained focus it actually needs to work.

And it sticks. Because the intensive addresses the root cause — the underlying beliefs, memories, and nervous system patterns driving the anxiety — the changes tend to last. Your child doesn’t just feel better for a week. They leave with real tools and a nervous system that has actually shifted.

These sessions are ideal for families who:

  • Feel like weekly therapy isn’t working fast enough

  • Want a targeted solution for anxiety, perfectionism, or emotional outbursts

  • Need a clear plan and expert guidance without the long-term wait

  • Want their child or teen to feel capable, calm, and emotionally strong
